iRTG Workshop

Role & Expectation Management — a ChemPrint integrated Research Training Group (iRTG) workshop for our starting doctoral researchers, providing insight into how one assumes roles in the professional context and how these roles are defined and must be reflected on and discussed.
Aligning one’s own expectations of one’s role with the expectations of those all around is a crucial part of the work to be done when starting doctoral studies, as it has a major effect on later success and satisfaction. It will also serve our graduates as they pursue careers beyond academia.
The overwhelming, and overwhelmingly enthusiastic, feedback obtained from participants demonstrates the importance of this topic. After the first part of this training, offered in four small groups, the principal investigators (doctoral advisors) will be invited to reflect on the topic via a questionnaire, and we will all align our mutual expectations in the final part during our winter school!
